"howe & howe tech"

I want a mini rip. Only fear of that thing would be busting a track, could you imagine what that would do to you. Like they say, "human blender."

Why are the welders on this show labelled as 'arc welder' when they are only using MIG? I have not seen a stick welder on there.
I enjoyed the show though.

yea i noticed that too it was either mig or tig welding which is kinda weird

anybody remember the show junkyard wars? I liked it best.. it probably is the father of all these shows.

I like the show but like you guys I hate the drama. But I figure without the drama many guys wouldn't get to watch cause the wife would be to bored if it was 100% motorhead content. I watched the first show of Motor City Motors and it ticked me off when they took that cool old car and chopped it to bits, how stupid. What really ticks me off is when they try to over dramatize things like on the show Car Czar when they was re doing a 69 Z-28 and spent ten minutes telling the audience how the brakes not getting fluid could bring the whole project down. But then all those non-gearheads out there believe all the crap the narrators are spewing LOL!

Junkyard wars was pretty good. I don't feel too bad for Jesse James' Monster Garage not being on any more. He at least gets to go home to Sandra Bullock.

Junkyard Wars was pretty awesome. I also remember this show called Full Metal Challenge. That was a wicked show too. As for Monster Garage, I loved it, Jesse James makes some awesome stuff, and he's a no B.S. kinda guy. If he thought someone was being too dramatic, he called them on it. Haha.

Mig, Tig, and Stick welding are all "Arc" welding. As they all use an electric arc. :icon_thumby: So if somebody says they are "Arc" welding, they could mean either of the 3.

I know what you are saying but in the 'Welding World' only stick is referred to as arc welding - from back when it was invented as opposed to fire welding. I'm being picky but you thought the show would have got it right - Every stick welder out there will be saying, 'That's MIG not Arc!!

If you buy an arc welder it will be a stick welder!!:icon_thumby:

ok we are just splitting hairs here all are very different and all have there pros and cons stick welding are better for welding stronger and thicker metals mig and tig are better suited for lighter and thiner metals the stick just uses the coating on the rod as the shielding gas both mig and tig have to have argon or helieum as a shielding gas and the tig needs a tugsten bit to carry the arc while the mig uses the wire that the machine feeds through the handle to carry the arc

motor city motors pretty much reminds me of monster garage... its still no where near that show.. monster garage was by far the best show out there for this type of entertainment.
I'd have to agree, my favorite monster garage episode was the semi trike, followed by the early 50's car they tricked out

You kind of missed the point there, we wasn't really talking about the differences between the welding types but the fact that the welders on the show are labelled wrong. - - - This as turned in to a thread jack so I'm not going to comment on it any more!

Good Show, I enjoy it!!:icon_rofl:

The point is they aren't labeled wrong, MIG welding is still Arc welding. Call it what you want, its still Arc welding. MIG is GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). Tig is GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding). Stick Welding is SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)

i loved how he crushed that snowmobile it was stupid as hell.

If I was the brother, I would have dragged him out of the skid steer and beat his ass.

Just sayin.
