Hello to all!!! Glad to be here, I'm hoping ya'll might be able to help me out a bit. I have been having such problems with my truck, I mainly just use it to go back & forth to work... It is my primary transportation though and I'm in a bind. I dont know anything about engines...and really cannot afford to take my car to a shop. So I am trying to learn.. I have a 94 Ford Ranger 2.3 four cylinder five speed. I have been having a slew of problems lately and need some pointers. It all started with a check engine light. Changed out the idler pulley to start with because I had the wrong one on there. Then changed out the AC and drier, cuz it died. Then I threw the timing belt, changed out the water pump, tstat, housing for the tsat and put on the new timing belt. Have flushed the radiator twice in doing all of this. Still getting the check engine light. Borrowed a ACTRON diagnostic reader. got a code 224 and 998. was told by the service guy at the locale ford dealership to check the coils...bla bla..replaced the primary coil. Still getting the same codes. I drove the crap out of it last night to see if it just needed to be driven a bit to reset. The check engine light went out... Well... for about 30 minutes and now I am back at square one. What would you suggest I try next? Any help would really be appreciated.

mine did that and it was a faulty o2 sensor.
why u replaced all that stuff?

welcome to TRS by the way.

Bonnie, rest assured, you are in the right place. You've done the right thing by coming to us. We will do our darndest to help you out.

Welcome to TRS! Grab a cold drink, a seat at the table, and watch for low-flying BS!

So, I guess your truck would be a TEXAS Ranger named Walker?

I've replaced all the afore mentioned parts because they broke,... no kidding. Other than the Idler pully, which it broke a while back and when I replaced it, I did so with the wrong one, so now I got the right one.

So I suppose I will now see about a new O2 sensor and will let you all know if that solves the problem or not. Wish me luck!!

Hey I like the Name for my truck !! HA ! That's a good one!
