Hello everyone. I recently acquired a '94 B2300 and have been trying to raise it from the ashes. Funny thing in all my web searching I keep getting the most useful links from this site so I thought it was high time I registered
I'm definitely new to vehicle work. Mostly i'm fighting rust. Did some media blasting to the frame and sprayed with rust converter and undercoat, replaced all the rear suspension brackets, replaced the
rear cab brackets. My goal was mostly a daily driver although i'm inspired by the big off road rigs I keep seeing on here.
I thought I had it drivable ( truck was at my folks place ) and so set off for my house an hour away at 9:30 at night.
A little over half way there, i'm going 65mph in 5th and it feels like something slipped... just for a second. Then again.. then a lot of noise and the whole rear end locked up hard and I screetched to a halt. Managed to aim for the shoulder at least. Engine was still running. Had my foot on the clutch and seemed to be disengaged, but I can't move the stick out of gear. Just glad the wife following behind didn't slam into me.
It's towed to a shop right now because I figured this might be over my head, they say I need a transmission & clutch work.
Debating if I should attempt to swap in a junkyard transmission myself or
what.
Anyhoo, thanks for all the great posts and for making this such a great site.
