Wanting to know how to restore/reset my labtop to factory. for some reason, its been running slow and wont let me download certain things.

How do i restore it to factory and then i know after i do that ill have to update all drivers and such.

Thanks,
James

Go to search and type in system restore and follow the instructions.

No, system restore doesn't make it like it was from the factory. You have to boot to the CD that came with it for that.

That or it has a recovery partition on the hard drive (very common over the last few years) where you press a key during boot to restore to factory default.

Most laptops these days do have a recovery partition on the hard drive. What brand laptop do you have? A good number of them that I've used require you to press F12 to get it to bring up the system recovery screen.

use the boot/recovery disk that the computer/operating system came with, should be pretty easy from there.

What is the brand and model of the laptop.
different brands have different methods of recovery.
with the right info we can tell you how to recovery the system to factory.

how far back you can restore it depends on entirely how far back your oldest restore point is....

Beware though that is likely BEFORE any applications you installed and certainly before ALL the
running updates to the OS ...

I've been setting up a group of older Dell desktop computers, using an XP-SP2 reinstall disc
Switching to an SP3 reinstall disc saved me seven hours of downloads and installing updates
on each system...

I had one older Compaq system that hasen't been powered up since 2006 that I recently ran
through all the updates (to and through SP3) to make it current... and that took three days
of forcing updates.

Ever wonder why computer repair guys charge so much?
