How to use 4WD

Our humvees can't use reverse in 4lo, I think my expe I have used reverse but I dont know if I was supposed to. You should double check with the rangers. Also keeping in mind that when going from 4hi to 2wd if there is any pressure on the driveline, IE on a hill, then you will have to release the pressure for the system to release it to 2wd. Give it a little gas and let off.

We are generally encouraged to leave the transfer case in high and only attempt to use low or high lock in an emergency just because of how many transmissions we go through and the engines burn so much oil they sometimes seize, the transfer case would just be one more thing for those poor hmmwvs. They're AWD anyways and the gearing is already pretty low in high.

In the Ranger you can use reverse in 4lo.

Thanks for all the info guys. Going from 2WD to 4HI or 4LO and back again is pretty straightforward.

Thanks again!

^that makes more sense... mine topped out at 35 in 5th... and that was bouncing off the rev limiter.

I love 4lo drags btw.
