I bought the truck , 1998 4X4 with the 4.0 OHV.
local garage chked it out and had code " searching for 5th gear"
Mechanic said someone had put a 4R in place of the 5R55E
Code D on door sticker, which states it should have the 5R55E.
The EPC under the pan is the Big Green Banded one,which the 4R'S have.
any other way to identify this tranny besides the green banded epc ?
i have it out of the truck and it has a metal tag - 98GT LBA 2
