how to take out center console?

what tools would i need going to a junkyard, and how does the console come out, and how do i go about installing one in my ranger, im thinking of a 2000ish expplorer center console. ive read lots of threads but i cant find any with info on how to take out etc i dont wanna go about breaking things. thanks
