How to reset brake lights?

Ok buy a test light then remove the tails and bulbs have someone press the brake and use the test light to see if there is power, if there is get new bulbs if there isn't start hunting for a blown fuse, if the fuse is fine (check it with the test light), then check along the wire till you find a fault (broken wire, chatting, short, etc) if there's no power at all and the fuse refuses to light up the test light, then check out the switch or possibly the flasher relay. Hell you could try jumping the light using a wire straight from the battery to avoid hunting down the wire just to determine the line is unbroken.

Yeah, basic troubleshooting. My last post was sarcasm. Black_demon had said "find and push the red button"... That resets the brake lights.

Besides, killjoy, you explained how to troubleshoot, but how do you RESET them?:icon_confused:

Lol your right I didn't....

The actual reset on most brakes is done by driving to the top of a hill and putting it in neutral...let the vehicle roll backwards down the hill but do not touch the brake pedal until you hit the bottom and then mash it on till you lock up all four wheels...release the pedal immediately and then pump it five times quickly.

Best done at night and watch for other traffic.

This is the factory reset...if that doesn't work and you don't end up in the ditch then try it again till you achieve either one.

Man, the crap's gettin deep...good thing Ise got chest waders. I would reset the muffler bearing same time that I reset the brakes...they're linked you know.

also linked to the loose nut behind the wheel.....:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

SUCCESS THIS THREAD HAS BEEN HIJACKED!!!!!:D

You do know that because the brake lights and the turn signals use the same bulbs you need to change the turn signal fluid and filter.

And I am here to save you money. Don't spend the extra bucks on halogen blinker fluid, your truck is old enough that it only needs the regular blinker fluid.

You are welcome.
