putting a 4.0 long block in my 94 ranger. just wandering how do you prime this engine since it doesn't have a distributor.

the cam pos sensor can be removed, it is just a dummy-shaft where the distributor would go. I imagine it would work the same.

but a pressurized priming tank is awesome in these cases

there might not be a cam position sensor, the early ones didnt. either way, there's an oil pump drive that fits in just like a distributor should. just pull it out and treat it like a distributor.

^^ yes, the early ones didn't have the cam pos. sensor integrated into the dummy-shaft. but we are talking about the same dummy-shaft that drives the oil pump

I took an old sensor/drive apart and cut the female splined portion off, tgen welded it to a Loooong 3/8 bolt. That way I can just prime it with my 1/4" impact .
