how to measure for custom driveshaft?

Best bet is to contact the person/place making the new shaft. They will explain how they would like it done.

Most drive shops that I have called and talked to have told me to measure from the trans tailshaft seal to the flange on the pinion of the rear axle. Now with knowing that I would do just like Teddy said and check with the shop doing the work and see if that is how they wanted it measured.

Yes you are best to call head and ask how they would like it measured. Some places want it a particular way to avoid confusion, there are quite a few places to take measurement and different running gear. How ever you do measure it be sure to draw yourself a little picture and write the measurements down when you go that way are are certain everyone understands what was measured. Definitely something you want to double check measurements also because it sucks to have one made twice.

draw it out. Measure from the flange to flange. And to make sure you dont get screwed like it did.... measure with suspension fully compressed and fully extended. That way when your driveing down the trail and hit a big bump your shaft dosn't pull apart and send you like a pogo sick down the road.:bawling:
here is a link of what to measure.
good luck
