How to identify pre-88 intake?

I saw that it's supposed to measure 58mm, but where is that measurement taken?

I'm asking because I have an 88, but I'm not sure what all was done before I got it... I saw an 87 intake and, without measuring, it "looks" the same as mine.

I have a slight hesitation when coming off idle, but the truck already has headers and an oversized exhaust.. so I'm wondering if more intake would help..??

Its the throttle body that is a different size, i think the ones from 86-86 are 58mm and the other years are 50mm.

Thanks Twister, but I'm still not sure exactly where that measurement is..

Is it right in front of the butterfly? At the narrow point?
... it looks like mine is about 50 right there, as best I can measure it..

This picture shows 52 mm, but it gets a little smaller as it goes in..

PS... the I.D. for the pipe that leads to it is exactly 58 mm ....

Throttle body diameter is measured at the throttle bore by the throttle blade

also I've noticed on the 86-88's the lettering on the top of the intake is more "raised" than the 89-92 intakes, just noticed that when I owned an 86 and a 92 at the same time lol
