I might try this. My grill emblem got messed up when i blew a rad hose a few years back. She got steamed good and the blue ran, now its a faded, water-damaged, blueish-green. Always figured on replacing it, just never got to it. Do her up black like my truck.

Ya, my grill emblem would look great with a red background with black lettering.

I'm curious though, the link in the OP's original thread shows how to remove the gel, in it the blue comes off with the gel. In the OP's technique, the blue is behind the emblem? I'm a bit confused about this, are they two different type emblems?

Edit: I just saw the "fingernail" part. Two types of emblems. I'll give this a shot and see if it works.

tried it a couple times... then decided against the heat gun.... I took a cup of water and threw it in the microwave til it almost boiled..... i could see bubbles coming up when i through it in so id assume that was the water seeping in between the two peices... it was a lot easier to heat up this was.. and got it a lot hotter... (this is how i put on grips on handlebars)

Ok, what size for the front of 1994 ranger gril? I'm tired of trying to find it, so I can do this.

From some quick searching on Motorcraft, the part number for a 1994 Ranger is either F87Z9842528CA if you have the traditional H looking grille, or E8DZ8A223A if you have that weird looking panel thing thats not really a grille

just thought i'd mention superglue will make it look funny when u put it back onto the chrome piece. cause white specs in mine

Just so you guys know, not all of the ford emblems are made like this. You should be able to separate the same way, but I just tried an 06 f250 tailgate emblem and it is much harder to separate because the letters are part of the chrome piece not in the part that you sand and paint. Just giving a heads up that you need to use extra caution on some other emblems because they're much easier to bugger up with your screwdriver/knife.

i used a heat gun and took my eye off it for a second and ruined the emblem had to buy a new one i wish i had thought of the boiling water the first time.

I did this and I made mmy emblem what i call Toxic Yellow and then recoated the front with clear nail polish to give it a glossy look. It came out perfect! I used the boiling water technique and it worked better and instead of the superglue I used a bit of industrial epoxy and it didn't run or cause spots. I will caution anyone who wants to do the nailpolish on the front to do it very carefully and take your time with it or it won't be smooth. It took me a good couple of hours to get it finished perfectly and now the Ranger stands out from the crowd without being too obvious. Thanks to Casper98 for the help and techniques!
