Well, good luck either way you go. It is a firm belief of mine that if i'm going to void the warranty on something by modifying it then it should be something that's worth it. Having a 2008 4x4 Ranger with a 2.3 motor in it is definitely something that not alot of people have, so go for it!

Well....I might revert back to the original plan because I can buy a new 2.3 mainshaft 4x4 for the tranny cheap and new from Ford, thanks for the good info.

Define "cheap", i.e. just give us the $$ price.

Cheap is $130can haven't found a tailhousing yet, but what would I expect to pay from a yard?

All depends on your area, I know that the last time I bought just a tailhousing from one of the local junkyards it was like $18 i believe, but prices go up and down depending on where you are located.
