How to disconnect harness at firewall?

I'm in the middle of a cab swap, im takin my 88 reg cab 2wd and putting it on an 87 reg cab 4wd. Right at the moment i'm trying to get the main harness disconnected at the firewall, by the brake booster and slave cylinder. How do you get this disconnected? Its the only thing at the moment thats keeping me from getting this rusty ol' cab off.

I beleive it's just one huge plug, I think there are clips on either side of it, you disengage those clips and pull it out.

nah, im not going to go through that trouble, ill just diconnect it the right way and save myself a shit load of time

the two plugs are held together with a bolt right in the center, you loosen it from the engine compartment side. At least I think thats how it is on the first gens, 2nd gens are like that.

Are you talking about the computer plug? If so, Zman is right
it's *about* 1" wide and 4" tall?
there is a 'dust cover' thing that unclips, top and bottom
I believe the bolt in the middle is used to pull the plug together to insure it seats fully and correctly, so it needs to be un-threaded as you pull the plug apart, if you just start backing the bolt of without the plug keeping pace you can risk breaking the plug.

No, i already got the computer plug apart. I'm talking about the plug on the left side if your sitting inside the cab. The one where all the fuse box and all that stuff is at. Do you just pull the dust cover and pull it out?

If there is a plug which I don't have a 2.9L but if there is then there is probably just some plastic clips holding them together so i would take some screw drivers pry them away and pull the plug. Don't Trust me mine is a 2.8L and there is just a mass of wires that go through a grommet in the firewall (no Plug).

on a gen1 you have to disconnect all the little connectors then shove the remaing foot long piece of harness INTO then cab.
