My 92 XLT has the factory aluminum wheels which I'm told are clear coated. Dirt seems to be embedded in the clear coat. whats the best way to get them clean without stripping the clear coat?

nothing really, id jsut strip the clearcoat off, since they always start to flake anyways, clean them up real nice, and just get them polished to a nice finish and then clear them again

I had mine sandblasted..didn't clear coat them again but that might be done this summer...just painted them blue...they actually look pretty good though...

brass wire wheel an then some steel wool an simple green

You can get a buffing wheel at Lowes that goes on a 4 inch grinder, just use this and some buffing compound for soft metals, or Les Schwab sells some really good stuff called Heavy Metal. With the buffer, it will strip the clear off and polish the aluminum. If you buff them out, you can then periodically hand rub them with polish and a clothe, and you won't need to clear them again.

i used EAGLE ONE wheel and tire cleaner...i worked pretty well plus it will help tire shine stand out more.
