how scummy is this?

Some pretty common sense tells me not to mess with an accident scene, especially one with a BMW and 13 yr olds involved.

I believe I would have called the police the first time I seen them drifting around the corner. I have three young children who play in the yard.

Where did everybody's common sense go these days?

Common Sense has gone the way of civil liberties.

Virtually Non-existant.

i think the best advice anybody here can give is to get professional legal advice...

so im guessing i missed something,
does anybody want to explain?
thanks

Jeff

EDIT - Also, because of my accident I had in November, I always carry a camera in my truck (digital, disposable, or whatever), just for situations like this, take before pictures, and pictures of every step you had to take. Make sure the license plate is visible in the pictures, and take one of the plate of each vehicle, making sure there is a picture of the entire vehicle in the initial position. Cover your ass by taking as many photos as possible, Photos don't lie, people do.

Actually...

Photographic evidence is often much argued over. Cameras that take real film, however, tend to be more believable for evidence value than digital cameras, but both can lie. They can either lie from manipulation such as how you take a shot (angles, lighting, etc) which can distort fact, or they can lie from manipulation of the final product (photoshop for digital, or a much more difficult process of editing a negative if film). Often editing of the final form is somewhat noticeable, we've all seen poor photoshopping, but if it's carefully done by someone who knows what they're doing, it can prove to be nearly undetectable. Manipulating the camera at the time of the shot can be even more difficult to prove.

This comes from someone fairly well-versed in the art of photography... I also can show how it can distort things if requested.
