I apologize, this is probably a common question but I'm not satisfied with what I found while searching.

I'm looking at 15x8 Soft 8's for my Ranger. I want to get the look right so I'm fixating on wheel back spacing. I want to get the rim/tire combo right at the fenders edge, or as close as I can, while keeping the tread inside the fender when looking down from the top.

After the lift and gears I'm planning on running 33x9.50's. I like narrow tires in the snow. Until then I'll run the stock 235/75's. My local shop can only get Soft 8's in 3.75" back spacing. I think they'll stick out beyond the fenders. I've found 4" and 4.75" back spaced Soft 8's on line.

I see others recommend the 3.75" back spacing, do they stick out? If I go with the 4" will I get any rubbing on turns?

Thanks

The 3.75" backspace will be perfect. A 9.50 will not stick out with them.

Thanks Johnny. I just need to order up the rims now.

That will work good, why not run a 15x7? I think it may look kinda goofy with a wide wheel and narrow tire.

I thought about that but I may want to go to 12.50's later. Of course, if I want to go to 12.50's I could always buy a new set of wheels.

I did have a set of 33x10.50's mounted on 15x8 wheels on a jeep for a while. Though not as narrow as 9.50's I didn't think they looked out of the ordinary.

The 235/75's will look strange though. Hmm...

i want my tires to stick out past the fender just a tad, what backspacing would i use?
