I have been wanting to lift my truck up for a while now. I have a 2" leveling kit in it now. I also have a new body bushing set and a body lift waiting to go in, but along with that I have been looking at this 4" suspention lift

I was just wondering if it was worth the money...the price is right.

Thanks

Im gunna be honest with you id stay away from rough country lifts. If your gunna buy a basic lift kit Id go with BDS they offer a 4inch and 6inch and they stand behind thier product. I had a 6 inch BDS in my 1st gen just recently pulled it out and sold it. I got a 9inch and a dana44 solid now. But the only reason i pulled the BDS out was im droping in a 351W and wanted to convert to leafs in the front. BDS is pretty decent and its got good install instructions. If your planning on going all out with after market extended radius arms id go for sky jacker. But i wheeled my BDS kit for a while and never broke it.

Rough Country recently changed their design, but that kit looks like the older one with the drop plate. Plus it has blocks in the rear, and stacked blocks are bad.

It wouldn't be a bad start, but for that much $$ you could do better.

What are my other option staying around that price? I will be mainly street driven so i don't need anything that will need to hold up to hard core off roading. I don't mind putting a kit together either....I just want my truck bigger for the look.

I have the rough country I haven't had any probs out of it. Been to tellico twice...

Ok, so whats the deal with all these lifts that come with blocks for the rear? If it is so bad, why is it a option?

How much lift will add a leafs give me?

And what is the issue with the front braket in the R/C lift damaging the front diff?

Blocks are cheap, and small for shipping. Get a set of Explorer leafs and or Belltech shackles.

You can search for this info, you know. It's not very hard.

i have a 3 in rough country and it is fine add aleafs dont give you much at all im going to buy a 2 in block kit for the rear to even it out with the front i dont do much off roading either

I guess I am not very skilled at the search feature or googling because I didn't find what I was looking for. All I could find was people saying not to stack blocks and why it was bad.

I was asking why it is common, you answered that.

if you are not going to be doing any offroading or a little bit of trail riding blocks are not going to be bad but if your gona beat it up a little then i would go with leafs you can get it high enough if you keep adding them but then the suspesion would be really hard.

The reason not to stack blocks is because it makes an unsafe area where your axles mount to the vehicle. All axles have axle wrap(the axle will twist a little when accelerating). By stacking the blocks you take the chance of one, or both blocks coming loose(where they meet each other) and the axle will come loose. The leaves provide a better, more stable area to mount your axle too. Can you stack them though, I had mine stacked for a while, but opted out for a pack of Skyjacker 4" lift springs, Its just safer......
