Hey guys and gals,

I'm in the middle of a little undercover project for the time being but i have a 84 ford ranger that has a 2.8 (carb motor for those that dont know) and i'm doing a 4 cylinder swap on it and i need to get the OBD plug in that is found under the driver side by all the brakes and such so i can get a tuner plugged in on that.

I dont know what i would all need for electrical, I have a full engine bay harness from a 96 along with the whole engine harness but i dont have anything for in the cab, It it was going to be too big of a pain in the but i was going to going to sell/scrap this truck and then get a 95 or newer one that has the plug in for me and prolly a 2.3 in the truck already.

thanks

I think its iffy. You have an OBD2 system going into an older vehicle. It may not work. But you never know until you try. Or you could go the easier route and get a carbed 2.3 and swap that in. That would be a whole of a lot easier.

You can also splice in the OBD plug into the engine wiring and leave it under the hood, there's no special reason for it to be inside the truck. Just that you might need a longer cable if you want to sit down and tune haha.

i dont know how i would splice it in there... im unsure of what wires would have to be cut.
