Im doing a V-8 conversion on a 2wd 96 ranger with a 4.0l in it it also has a manual trans but that will be leave to make room for a four speed manual i was just wondering how easy it is. ive done some work on my dodge and other 91 ranger and 93 f-150 but nothing this big. so any pointers will be greatly apreciated.

There is a TON of info on hear already. Try using the search function first, then come ask some questions.

thanks ive ben looking around i want skill level not what i need. i no what i need time and skill level.:no2:

Skill Level? ....it all depends on what kinda plans you have. Do you plan to go with EFI ? if so then some type of electrical experience and ability to understand wireing will be a big help. If runing carb thne your biggest problem is making it fit. Do you plan to custom fab things to make it work, or buy things to do the conversion?

A 2wd is the easy one. Being you want a manual that adds a little difficulty but not much. What 4 speed are you talking about? A toploader or a fullsize like the T18/19 or NP435? This all can be done without a welder. All you need are some basic tools; sockets, wrenches, a hammer, drill, a hoist of some sort, a jack, screwdrivers, a grinder and a prybar. If you have more than that and access to power tools it will only be faster and easier. That and some basic knowledge and a creative attitude you'll be fine. The only welding that is involved is a driveshaft and exhaust. The rest can be accomplished with basic tools if need be.

thanks guys now i have an idea of what to look for. as for trans not sure depends what budget allows. and yes 4 barrel carb on top of edelbrock intake. im putting in 5.0l :yahoo:

hell if its 2 wd then throw a mustang world class T5 in it

i may b a young gun farm kid but i love old school and and thanks thoughs who put in their info. now the t5 how uh tough is it i dont have time to rebuild gears after every street race

how much motor you puttin behind it

93 f150 5.0L V-8 with 670cfm carb edelbrock intake long tube headers aluminim radiator e.fan underdrive pullys straight pipes 4.88 gears in da rear 275/75-15 radial t/a bfg's:drool:

so...a stock motor. it should be fine if you can drive. the motor i built for my buddys mustang has a stock shortblock and T5 and just went 6.70 in the 1/8th and its held up all this year

your building it to streat race??? hope thats some sorta' typo. And if its a stock truck motor you wont be blowing anything up, there like 170 hp or somthing arnt they?
