The area around your windshield has little metal studs that look like nail heads. The blue circle in the picture would be those metal studs. Slide the clip over it. It will stop right before the red circle. Tap the lip (where it says 'Strike Here') until the head on that stud is where the red circle is. I usually use the head of a screw driver and tap the handle with a plastic mallet. Once you have all of the clips on, you can install the trim. Line the trim up and then strike it with the palm of your hand where the clips are. It will snap in under the lip below the 'Strike Here' spot.

They suck.
For added suckiness for put one of the nail things like an 1/8” too deep so the trim can’t reach the clip on the bottom DS corner of my windshield.
