how do i remove the camshaft position sensor on 95' with 4.0l ?

So i am trying to replace the camshaft position sensor on my 95 ranger with the 4.0l v6.I cant seem to figure out how to get to the mounting bolts.do i have to remove the intake manifold? if yes,do i just need to undo the bolts that connect the manifold to the block or will i have to undo more?

The sensor itself is held on by two philips head screws.
You don't need to remove the whole drive gear assembly just to change the sensor. so you don't need to worry about the timming.
I think it would be easiest to remove the upper intake, but might be assesible with it in but I doubt. My engines out right now anyways. Here are a couple of pics of what it looks like.

I know this is an old thread, but can anybody help me find a part number for the sensor like the one in Slingblade's picture?

Dorman part number 689110. It's the whole synchro and sensor assembly.

I had actually found the synchronizer assembly but was hoping you could buy just the sensor somewhere

you can buy either the sensor or synchronizer. most places list the synchronizer as the whole assembly, but just look for the cam position sensor if that is all you need.

I haven't been able to find just the sensor for the 93-95 synchronizer assembly like the one pictured. The only ones I can find are round and have the connector pointed straight out rather than up. I don't think that type of sensor would work on my synchronizer, which is like the one pictured.

as far as i know the 95 sensor cant be serviced seperate from the assembly.
