ok i got this 94 ranger from my grandma. its got the 2.3 and it just dont got the power i want. im a horsepower junkie and i like chevy. dont get me wrong i like ford too, b/c its american, but im a bowtie man and i wanna put a 350/383 in it. the one i want has 510hp and i think that'll do the job so can someone help me out with about how to do it. oh by the way it's a two wheel drive and i wanna keep it that way no lifting it if possible

Yes it can be done, there are a few 305/350 Rangers floating around. Being that I have a similarly built Ford small block that you describe; it isn't very streetable. It won't idle, wants to be run wide open, more of a strip engine. You can do this kind of swap without lifting it. It will require some decent cash for what you want to do. You'll be changing the rediator and rear axle as well.

also....if u plan to hook up at all in the ranger with that kind of power you will need to reinforce the frame as it WILL tweak the frame, the ranger frame isnt built to handle that kind of power

It would cope better than an S-10 though. :icon_thumby:

Haven't personally researched it :dntknw:, but I have heard a SB "bowtie" into an S-10 is maybe even more of a direct fit than doing a Ford 5.0L Ranger.
Most of us are just predjudice toward putting a chebby in a Ranger.

^ I agree with Tim. Hotrodding is about using your brains and your hands together. BTW his truck is badass. There are a few videos of it floating around. IIRC he cut the firewall back and put in some heavy sheetmetal to clear the distributor on the SBC.
