How did your ranger try to kill you today?

I have a bunch of grinders, two cordless and like 5 corded, the cordless get used most anymore just for pure convenience but I usually keep one with a flat knotted wire brush, a cup brush, cutoff wheel, flap disc and usually a normal wheel since it works better sometimes. I don't have any name brand grinders I don't think maybe a black and decker but it was cheap... heck one of them is labeled as a plunge cutter or something random...

As for Rhonda; She's been uncharacteristically nice to me this year, and it's got me on edge a bit. For the first 4 or so years of having her she was broke down most of that time.
Since I changed the fuel pump back in March( The OEM died in December 2024 but I had to wait for better weather) she's been starting, running, and stopping with no issues except for a faulty upper radiator hose I got from the local NAPA not sealing due to a very crooked end cut on the engine side. It's too cold to change that right now and the new one, from NAPA, is also cut crooked so I might just take it back and get one from somewhere else. I managed to get the current hose to stop leaking and hopefully it will last until warm weather finally hits Pa. But other than that it has been uneventful last year and so far this year.
So after 4 odd years of back to back to back breakdowns, I can't start her up now without half expecting something else to go wrong. Have I finally gotten to the point where I've fixed most of what was wrong with her, causing her to be so uncooperative? Yea, probably not lol. While it's nice to not have to be wrenching on her every day, I just can't shake the feeling it's now over yet. And it most likely never will be.
But at least she hasn't tried to kill me lately. That's something, right?

Technically it would be Operation "MAFO", but I like your thinking.
You are correct! However, an O is a-round. 🤣

Gosh, if you lose your wallet in her, and then she disappears, sounds a lot like my ex-wife

mine makes me think of it when i am out of town and unable to allow it to threaten my life directly by being within its presence......

its heartbreaking...

I like to consider myself a tough cookie, but I am showing my age with my injuries and my illness. Fortunately, I’m on the mend, really doing pretty well these days.

I say that as a preface, because various vehicles have tried to kill me over the years. In the vehicles, defense, when I was younger, I took some stupid chances. One thing I never did was drive around without insurance, with bad steering or with bad brakes. At least you could stop and get to the side of the road.

Since I elevated my ‘87 4 x 4 by putting all the Lincoln stuff in and on it, with that heightened prestige and arrogance, I’ve realized she’s trying the slow death method. The cassette wouldn’t work in the OEM radio, so when I had the dash open to replace a couple backup lights, I tried putting in a couple of almost identical Lincoln radios that I had from the same timeframe. Well, after four days of working on it, I finally got an aftermarket radio in it that I also had sitting around, but I have yet to get the dashboard back together. I don’t remember ever working so hard for a result that I really don’t like. I’ll be looking for another radio.

The snooty Missing Linc is trying to take advantage of my injuries and illness, and wear me down put me through a slow death. I’ll probably have the dash together and actually drive the thing in another few days…

the rangers have never done anything but my karmann ghia had the front passenger wheel bearing nut tanged washer break allowing the nut to tighten on the highway and lock up. since the highway was coming back from padre island and had no barriers, when the wheels stopped spinning at 60mph, it jerked the steering hard right and made me change from the inside lane to the shoulder before i got it back under control.

another 5 feet and it was sand and then ocean.

that poor ol karmann ghia. i sure wish i still had that car
