How big rear blocks can I go?

I have a 89 stx, right now theres 3" blocks. How big are regular ranger blocks? I'm doing a explorer rear leaf convertion. How high can I go before I have the driveshaft slipping out?

Well, that depends who you ask. 7.5_STX's build thread has some pretty darn beefy blocks.

go as little as possible...personally i say 3 is even too much

the bigger the block the worse spring rap/wheel hop and more the chance of kicking a block out and destroying everything

7.5L_STX's truck is unsafe with blocks like that. 3" is the max for blocks imo, and you should never stack them.

Standard Rangers use a 2" block. STX uses 3" blocks.

I don't like using any blocks, the bigger the block, the more leverage your axle can put on the springs and cause spring wrap, which breaks things.

IIRC they make up to 6" lift blocks. What a scary thought.

I believe you can get 4-6" of lift before your driveshaft becomes too short.

it looks like he's got three 2" blocks stacked together lol 7.5L_STX: i am not dissing your truck, it's very nice. i've just never seen blocks stacked like that before lol

but i agree with everyone else for the most part. 3" blocks is enough block for me, after that is getting a little hairy. if you want more than that, do add-a-leafs or entirely new leafs lol
