how bad is it to shift into 4lo without locking the front hubs? will this destroy my transfer case? its been 5 years since i was able to use 4wd (gearing issue, dont ask) what are some of the guidelines for using the bw1350 with a 5 speed? the last time i was able to use 4wd was back in my a4ld days before the swap to fm146 and now that my gearing issues are resolved its time to play offroad again.

It's not bad at all, I do it all the time along with a lot of other people.

ya, anytime that first gear, 2H is too fast. i switch to 4L and craw along... good when trying to spot elk early in the morning too!

I use it in slow drive thru's all the time.

great for second gear tire frying sessions.:D

just take it easy on it,you can shock load the rear diff pretty easy with all that torque going to one axle.

What's fun is now I have manual hubs on the F-250.

Put that in 2lo and put it into reverse and you can feel the axle windup.

Feels strange in 2-lo with an automatic.
