Hello to all. Just want to say that Im new to this and all of your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all the enthusiasts out here in the ranger station and all of the knowledge you could ever pass on. Now....
I have a Ranger,of course, 2.3L n/a and plan on coverting it over to a turbo motor. I know a turbo swap from a tbird or mustang,etc would be sufficient but I would like to be just a tad different. I have an intercooler kit w blow off valve included(thanks ebay), stage 4 cam from crower, I think they are 30lb:icon_confused: injectors(brown top),all gauges(tach,boost,a/f ratio,oil) and last but not least of course a td05 turbo. Ok,the specs on this turbo I have been getting mixed information on it. My truck came stock w 3.73 gears,I added a posi loc,throttle body spacer,cai and borla exhaust,no cat, w 3 in tip. With the turbo I have and setup Im using. What will be the estimate horsepower I will be getting? I'll be getting an xcal tuner so yeah and Ill be running 8-10psi max. :icon_hornsup: I know custom fabbing will have to be done so,Im up for it :icon_welder: So june is when this will be done and I cant wait :yahoo:

TD05H refers to the exhaust wheel of the turbo....not really anything more than that. Post the casting number on the compressor cover and I'll tell you what you have.

As far as a hp number, better go back to the drawing board. I can tell you that you have never built an engine before as you are trying to mate a small turbo and its quick spool capabilities to crower's "stage 4" cam...aint gonna happen.
 
i agree a stage 4 cam is WAY too much. i have a stage 4 in my Proline built 347 race motor in the runstang and its almost too much even with a 750cfm and the garrett 88mm i need to change it out because it still wants to act funny when i let up on the throttle
 
That turbo will not work unless you make a header and then it will still be too little... stage 4 cam no unless your building a race motor... Your factory bottom end will not support 10psi unless you plan to have it dyno tuned and still any detonation will blow a piston... Your TD05 is from an eclipse which spools still too fast with 2.0 motor their running... Unless you plan on building a motor and putting at least pistons in it i would push the idea to the back of your garage until the time comes and research has been made of complete 2.3Ts... anyways your motor has to came out for the oil return line cause more than likely (dont quote me on this) you have an aluminum oil pan...


Edit; good choice on intercooler im running the same one, and if you want to sell the cam ill take it off your hands

Ok,now that the cam and the turbo idea I had is out of the window... What would you guys reccomend as far as using a turbo?
 
Your TD05 is from an eclipse which spools still too fast with 2.0 motor their running...

I dunno bout all that...I have 3 DSMs, one of them pushing over 350whp. It has a real MHI TD05H based turbo...

In saying that, theres nothing wrong with a TD05H based turbo. Its most likely a 14b that will support atleast 250hp. Thats fine for a budget build, especially considering the fact that the original poster isnt building the internals.

Looking at your pics, it looks as if its an ebay turbo. No go on that.

I personally would just opt for a factory 2.3T turbo and run that.
