Yes, the engines, computers, wiring, and transmissions.. :icon_twisted:

:wrongforum:

You could change your gears to 4.10s if you don't already have them, that would make your pickup feel like it had more power.

Maybe there's a slightly larger throttle body in one of your other Fords that might bolt up.

Get a higher flowing exhaust system.

K&N air filter.

Give it a tuneup, new spark plugs and wires.

Do any of your other Fords have a turbo they'd be willing to donate to your 2.3l? That would give it more power and more top speed.

put higher flow injectors in it along with the larger throttlebody he mentioned....advance the timing a few degrees......Ohhhhh....and a larger gas tank also!

I now retract my "wrong forum" sign since this thread was moved.

DG, is it even possible to advance the timing on a '97 2.3L? I thought they were all electronically controlled. Maybe you have to use a tuner/module to hook into the computer?

Its electronic, you can't mess with it.

thanks guys, i'll see about trying some of those. i'd like 2 keep the 2.3L in it and keep my same tranny. and i dont have anything with a turbo. would it hurt the motor if i put a set of injecters out of a 5.0 or 5.8 in it?:icon_confused:

Need to get more air flow before you go bigger in the injector department. Did you remove the intake muffler from the intake. and that crappy piece of plastic behind to front grill get rid of it. And then check to see if that gave you enough power to be happy. Also disconnect the battery for 5mins or so while your removing things so it learns the new air fuel mixture

more power= money! end of story.

+1000 Ive got 3000 bucks in mine and 18 pounds of turbocharged fury running in mine and still not happy... you NEED more MONEY before you make any more "power"... I started out with those mods and it had no effect in HP just worse gas mileage sorry
