I hate the horn on my truck because it has always been a high pitch wimping sounding horn. Lately though its gotten even worse. It still has the high pitch sound but if i hold it down it starts to crack. It sounds like my horn is going through puberty pretty much. Whenever I get pissed at someone and decide to hit the horn, its hard to sound intimidating or even angry when your horn sounds like a 13 year old boy talking to girls for the first time. Are there any horns with a deeper sound without going to something like a train horn?

you could get an OOGAH horn the kinda horn that was used on vintage vehicles. or just find a vehicle with your desired horn and go to the junkyard and pull one.

Ive thought about air horns and stuff like that but i dont have much room for that so i was looking for just a stock replacement that didnt sound like crap. i may do what master hec0 was talking about and just snag one from a junk yard

you could always do wht my uncle did on his semi. he had like 8 horns that he pulled from some older buicks

I just pulled a great horn off of an Ford Econoline van. It's got the high and low horn. Only had to plug in the one wire. (Mine only had one wire for power. The horn won't work unless it's grounded to the body.)

im using explorer horns since they came with a high and a low fixed on the same braket. make sure your horn bracket is tight to the body since that is how it grounds, if its not that could be the cause of your "cracklin teenage voice" horn.

I need to replace the horn on my 1996 Ranger. I got a replacement but I am having trouble locating the old one and Im not sure what to take off to get to what I think it is. Any tips?
