Right now I have a 1997 4.0L 4x4 supercab with an 8.8 open diff and 3.73 gears. I am running 31"x10.5" on it currently. I am pretty pleased with how it wheels so far. But I have to admit I do have some clearence problems and want more out of it. I also have money problems preventing me from going to 35"s. So 33"s it is.

So this is what I plan to do:
-Skyjacker 6" lift
-Ceco 15"x8" Black Crawlers
-33"x10.5"(Possibly 12.5") BFG M/T's
-rear lockrite

Now after going through the forums. The gears & diff I have should work with the tires. Despite some people debating 3.73's,4.10's, 4.56's etc...

Anyway I was noticing some people were saying you can easily fit 35"s and 33"s with a 6" lift but some people were saying to buy 8" springs for the front if you have a supercab. But when looking at the parts on the skyjacker website they ask if you have a regular cab or a supercab. Making me wonder if the kit comes with the stiffer coils?

You'd probly be happier with 4.10s or 4.56s but you're right, the setup you have will work. My buddy has a truck exactly like ours (94 supercab 4.0) with 33s and 4.10s and he says he wishes he woulda gone with 4.56s just for some more lowend. BTW you should definately go with the 12.5s IMO, you'll be kickin yourself later if you don't.

All in all, sounds like a good plan and as for the coils, on the 4.0 SC it's ideal to go with coils about 2" longer than your dropbrackets were made for to make up for the weight. For example, I have 2" SJ leveling coils + a 1/2" steel spacer on my truck with no drop bracket and it still aligns with no problems. good luck!

later dude

Unfortunately they don't specify different coils on the 4" and 6" kits, only on the 2" leveling kits (132 vs. 132X coils).
They could at the very least include spacers to use with the heavier trucks, but they don't even do that for some reason :icon_confused:

Be sure to get the bigger drop pitman arm #FA600 though. The arm that comes with the kit does not work well at all with more than 4" of lift on the suspension.

I would much rather have the 4.56's as well. But that will have to come at a later date.

So Basically I just have to order the 6" kit with the coils from the 8"kit and the drop pitman arm from a 6" lift for a 1980 bronco?

Order the 6" SJ kit with #138 coils (instead of #136), and #FA600 pitman arm (instead of #FA400).

Total lift height should be right about 6.5" on your V6 Supercab.

Edit:
Here is a Supercab with 8" coils on the SJ 6" lift (but also has the [too short] FA400 arm).

Thanks very much. You've been a huge help.

I will try and get some good build up pictures for this website.
