I have always hated using stock manifolds so when I put the 302 in the 85 I bought some Ford Headers from a Mustang cheap off Ebay.
I had to redo the front primary on the drivers side to clear the steering. The passenger side fit ok with no cutting of the primary's but I was going to have to notch the frame to clear the collector witch I didnt want to do because I had boxed the frame.
A friend called the other day said he bought a 302,told me it came with some headers I may be interested in.I traded a old Holley 650 for these little jewels...

Drivers side fits like a glove!Clears the steering perfect!
Passenger side I had to cut the collector turn it back, weld a piece in and it fits, clears the starter, bell housing and clears the frame.

If you happen to find some of these snag them! They are a big improvement over the stock Ford headers.

You really would be better off running stock log type manifolds than trying to make the Ford headers work because of the small opening at the flange. It has to choke the hell out of the Engine.
Big differance!

Now I can finally run my exhaust like I wanted and put this shit box on the road!

Copperhead,
Might want to give ole Slo-Vo a call and a block of instruction on installing them bad boys! He's having a hell of a time with his headers.

I'd be nice if you'd remove the paint so's we can see exactly what you did to turn the collector.:pray: Lookin good otherwise.:icon_thumby:

Yep I kinda suck in detail dept but here goes lol.
I bolted the Header on,got under the truck with a piece of flared exhaust pipe to get an idea where the collector should be.
I cut behind the collector, about an inch behind the flange, leaving it hanging by about 2"'s at the top.Bent it outward till it looked close to the angle I needed to hit the flange on the exhaust pipe
Put it back on to tweak my bend till it cleared the starter and the frame, had to do this about 5 times till it was right.Ended up moving the bottom of the collector out about 3".
Transfered the gap I cut out to cardboard, went to the Zone and picked up a 3" 90 degree piece of pipe, traced the cardboard onto it and cut it out.
Started tacking it at the small end of my gap (top),worked my way around to the other side making small cuts so the pipe would contour to the header till I made it around to the other side put it on one last time to check the fit and welded it all up.
