hood sticker

I noticed the other day my 1983 fanger has a 302 engine sticker on the hood and It has a V-6 stock did the ranger com stock with a 302 or is the hood from F series

F-series hood will not fit without considerable modification (it's wider and longer).

Rangers never got a 302 to the best of my knowledge. I'd guess that someone stuck it there just for the fun of it.

thats what I thought tks the sticker was put on really good it really looks original no peeling edges

Ya...I don't think there are any stock V8 Rangers...And you said yours is an 83? Where did you find one with a V6? I thought they only came with 4 cylinders in that year. huh...maybe I'm wrong.

There weren't any stock V-8 Rangers. Wasn't meant to have a V-8 ever.

I think they did have the 2.8 in 83.

And you guys do know that you can get those stickers from the parts desk. They don't have to come as part of a vehicle.

Yea It was a problem at first getting tuneup parts it says it was made in 83 but the emmission sticker under the hood is the same as 84 emission in my repair manual I am guessing it was built during the transition to 84. I am almost done with the duraspark finished the valve guide seals last nite that worked out pretty slick using compressed air to hold the valves shut 40 lbs was plenty of pressure to break the keepers loose just made sure the pistons were TDC in case I lost one maybe one of the seals was possibly working. I ended up with two carbs I am gonna drill the enrichment ports on the one with the 2 stage power valve a little larger and see what that does pulling a hill at 60 + MPH anxious to get it all together. when I pulled the old plugs the one with the largest gap was burning clean so I set them all at .045 and give that a try. I found that if you just compress the springs just enough to pop the keepers loose but not too far that the keepers fall out helps the searching or them on a crusty old engine almost lost one made my hole pucker.

I don't quite understand that because they put the 302 into Explorers...

We're contemplating putting an EFI 302 into my dad's Ranger in the near future...

The "X" changed majorly in 95, so there was room for a factory V8, along with a castration ( in my eyes ) of the front end by switching it to the IFS crap.

I know first gens were the same width in the front and about the same engine compartment dimensions, but they didn't get the 302, IIRC. Second gen explorers got the 302, don't think they made them really any bigger though.
