im thinking of getting some hood lift struts and putting them on my 86s hood. my question is do they come on newer rangers and how long should they be. is this good way to go i need input
thanks

Just a thaught here, don't know if it's an option for you though.

These guys can get the struts and put together a kit for your truck. It's not listed on the site but they did it for a guy here or over on RPS.

UNDERDOG - PERFORMANCE

im not really feeing that kit. but x2 on what explorers they came on

the explorers with hydraulic lift supports ('95+) use an entirely different hinge than the rangers..it wont be easily adapted to a ranger. plus, its a crap setup that likes to drop the hood on your head.

i installed this kit on my truck:

i cant say enough good things about the kit. very strong brackets, quality metal, easy installation, works extremely well.

that kit was posted already. i dont wanna spend 70 on something i can just fab up for half the price. and im not changing the hinges im just putting in lift struts with fabed in where i want them to be so they work

the explorer lift supports attach to and lift at the hinges. they dont have the range of motion to lift the hood from further out and i dont see how they could be made to work with the rangers current hinge setup.

ill figure it out some how.

i did...........your the only person who said it could have some truobles everybody on rps said it would work and if i doesnt ill make it work. FABRICATION
and my main question was if they came on rangers

I will take a few pictures of what I did, tomorrow. I used a 40lb gas strut with two 90 degree brackets. The strut I used is very long, but I could easily do it with a shorter strut. With your metal work and fab skills Crazy, I think you could make it look very nice and functional. Mines just for function.
