Checked the oil the other day because I had a job interview...thought I closed the latch properly, but got on the highway, and a huge dump truck coming the other way doing over 100 km/h managed to create enough of an air wake that the hood simply came up, went over, and landed on the dirt at the side of the road...:flipoff:

Fortunately, nobody was behind me...

So, there I was...with about 45 minutes to get to the interview on the side of the road...do I go back to the house and try to fix this and maybe miss the only interview I've been offered in over two months or dump the hood behind some bushes and drive on...

I decided to drive on...

Pretty embarrassing driving a vehicle with no hood...and since I had to add some oil and because the oil was cold it "glugged" a bit too much and spilled down on the intake side...

So, every stoplight (and I managed to hit every red light on the way) I was doubly outstanding when the oil burning off let up a smoke trail that was quite noticeable...;brownbag;

So, I make the interview in time...and see the parking lot is huge...so I park AS FAR away from the building as possible...

Wish I had a camera phone because the hinges both sheared off...so I had to use a door hinge to screw the hood down at the front and then put a big rubber bungee cord from fender to fender to keep it from flopping around...

I want my Ranger...NOW!

Mark that's still pretty stylin, I've driven a Ford Festiva with out fenders, grill, or a rear hatch, well sitting on the ole Colman raceing seat(old Colman cooler), if you turned left too hard you wound up sitting in the passenger foot well. Good times.

Hahaha...well, I'd have to say that tops my episode...when I cut the back wall out of my first Ranger (yes, the window wall on a standard cab) and put a fibreglass tonneau cover up to the back then a canvas top on the opening (it was my first convertible) I had a office of the law stop me...he walks around the truck and then peaks his head inside the passenger side window and says "Your truck looks a little beat up..."

I was going to say "so does the last person who said that to my face"...but I decided he was humoured enough already...:)

Ah man, that's pretty crappy. But at least you made it there on time, how did the interview go?

FWIW, there's a little yellow car that drives around here w/o a hood. See him around all of the time, even in the rain, hard to miss. LOL

Thanks for asking...I got the job...:yahoo:

I start on Monday next week...it's not EXACTLY what I wanted, but it is in the same field...and there is some opportunity for advancement...I can take the courses I need for MCSE as I go...just a bit longer than actually working in the field...

Hopefully this depressed job market will open up a bit in the near future though...:icon_bounceblue:
