Checked the oil the other day because I had a job interview...thought I closed the latch properly, but got on the highway, and a huge dump truck coming the other way doing over 100 km/h managed to create enough of an air wake that the hood simply came up, went over, and landed on the dirt at the side of the road...
Fortunately, nobody was behind me...
So, there I was...with about 45 minutes to get to the interview on the side of the road...do I go back to the house and try to fix this and maybe miss the only interview I've been offered in over two months or dump the hood behind some bushes and drive on...
I decided to drive on...
Pretty embarrassing driving a vehicle with no hood...and since I had to add some oil and because the oil was cold it "glugged" a bit too much and spilled down on the intake side...
So, every stoplight (and I managed to hit every red light on the way) I was doubly outstanding when the oil burning off let up a smoke trail that was quite noticeable...
So, I make the interview in time...and see the parking lot is huge...so I park AS FAR away from the building as possible...
Wish I had a camera phone because the hinges both sheared off...so I had to use a door hinge to screw the hood down at the front and then put a big rubber bungee cord from fender to fender to keep it from flopping around...

I want my Ranger...NOW!
