Wow~! I'd buy one from you...do you have it bolted to the bed from the inside somehow? I've heard of these things magically disappearing...and something that nice and shiny would be a real eye catcher...
I used 4 threaded 3/8" j bolts that hook under the bed rails ,so no drilling into the box . I hope nobody tries to steal it .
The old truck in in my avatar is lovingly known as "Gunther" , it is a 1943 kb-5 international and has been in the family since new . next time I go out to the farm I'll get some more pics of it and the 42 chevy flat deck , they are cool old trucks !!
towruck - got any plans or build pics? That would make an awesome write up for the tech library - a featured write up if there is such a thing. I really like that - I would need something more low profile for my lowered truck, but I really do like it.
Thanks so much for the compliments it's nice to have people appreciate the work , I've been wanting to build this for so long but just didn't have the time to put in . I think I'm going to build matching bed rail caps and skin the inside of my tailgate with the tread plate as well .
Ill try to come up with some sort of a step by step on how to build one , I'm better with buildin than computerin .
Yes, you are indeed obviously a damn good builder. And, you also write very well and take good pictures, too. That's all that's needed to do a tech write-up. I hope that you will give the write-up a shot; it would be great to have it here.
