First off this is theory only, more for curiosity sake.

Would this fit between the frame rails going from body mount to body mount?
What are the ups and downs?
Any ways to improve it ( make it safer, etc )
Why? Because I want a 4" body lift. I have the material sitting there not being used.

I've used these before for hanging pipe. 10" Sched 40 to be exact, we hung 2 of these of of each spaced 8ft apart, so strength isn't an issue.

This is only theory right now...unless something good comes of it on here, then I might use it. ANY input is welcome.

Oh...to answer the go buy one, why buy when you can build?

In many if not all US States, any more than 3" of separation between body and frame is illegal.

That said, the increased leverage on the already chinsy body mounts is probably going to cause premature failure. Unless welded in place and acting as a frame stiffener at the same time, I see this twisting the mounting points right out of the body.

Performance Accessories kits are usually right around $100, why build when you can buy :thefinger:

I would love to see a 6" bl. lol. you could almost crawl between the frame and the body

i had a buddie he used 2" pipe and it started to come through the floor of the cab because it was not wide enough, why are you going with a BD it will flex the same, all you will get out of it is bigger tires on your truck.

Judging from the avatar, he is from north of the border, so US laws wouldn't apply, lol.

It sounds like a better idea than hockey pucks (should i not have said that?), but if I did a body lift (I wouldn't), I'd buy it. Considering you'll need hardware no matter what, the price difference becomes less.

And as for why? Body lifts allow for increased height but keep the COG of the vehicle lower than with a suspension lift. They also allow you to use stock suspension parts.

I think if you want 4" of lift though, you should get a SL, they are worth it. Just my $.02.

for legality, accross the border here in bc it wouldn't be street legal unless gone through inspection, etc. But for offroad insurance the laws here are pretty lax. you could stack 20 hockey pucks up if you wanted and have it still be legal as far as offroad goes. ( we're not allowed to drive vehicles offroad herein bc without some sort of insurance ).

I was being a smartass about not buying it, like I said this was theory only. And you answered my question about the down/up side thankyou.

Now my question is why would this potentially cause so much damage to the body mounts when a bought kit doesn't if its going accross the frame ( drivers to passengers side )? Wouldn't it reduce the stress on the mounts in comparison to a bought lift kit?

the extra 2inces of tubing on each side would stop that. But like I said this is just theory, not something I actually plan on doing unless something good comes of here, then i MIGHT consider it. Other than that, just theory.

why have round tubing coming out the ends???? why not weld a 6-inch square plate on the top and have that support the body.......the tubing just dont make sense......
