Some days, you just can't win. I got a big screw in my tire in the "not so fun50" the other day. I actually found it just before my LBL trip. So, tonight, after work, I decided to put the spare on so I can drive it tomorrow. Upon further inspection, there are 2 foreign objects stuck through this tire. I don't think the shop will put 2 patches this close together. I already need 2 front tires due to alignment issues. So, it looks like I get to fork out for a whole new set of tires. Big frowny face.

Surely, they can plug/patch those. At least it's not the sidewall.

I have a tire I patched myself on the sidewall. It's still holding the same air after 4 years. This was using the temporary string patches installed from outside the tire

I wouldn't think it would be a big deal to patch those.

There’s some kind of rule about having the repairs too close together. I’m going to ask. But last time,it was no go.

We used Tech brand tire repair stuff and they had speed rated, pull through plugs with a patch built into the end. The techs would remove the tire, scuff the inside like they were going to patch it, apply some glue, stick the tool in and pull the plug through the hole. The patch would then be seated against the inside of the tire the same way any patch would be. We used them on everything- including police cruisers and the Mustang I drag raced with no problems.

On the off-road tires on the Ranger, I do that. These are speed rated low profile wide tires on my Fun50. They need better care. Plus, I found out they are a royal PITA.

Yah. I keep a plug kit in each of my vehicles, including my three motorcycles. Hasn't been a hole in a tire yet I couldn't fix myself in a couple minutes. I live in an apartment and fix a lot of flats here. Anyone who has been here a while knows to look for me if they have a holey tire. Except for the dumb blonde who keeps driving even though her front tires have no tread left. And she was driving it with a back tire with the steel belts showing, until it wouldn't hold air any longer. Then her dumb friend that works at O'Reilly's, was there for 30 minutes trying to put air in it with one of those electric pumps. LMAO! But, he "works at O'Reilly's, so I know what I'm doing." LOL!!

I dont keep a plug kit in the vehicles but do have one in the garage toolbox, lately my tire issues havent been road debris damage but just alloy rims with bead leaks. I wouldnt think those 2 holes would be a problem to patch, Ive done 2 plug repairs closer together than that before without a problem.

But the tire shop I go to uses the good plug/patch combination thingies and does it for free. So the expensive F150 tires go there for the good stuff.

But the tire shop I go to uses the good plug/patch combination thingies and does it for free. So the expensive F150 tires go there for the good stuff.

Same. The compressor in the 2019 is a cheap P.O.S. at the moment but is better than nothing. The one in the 2011 is closer to an ARB tire inflator that connects to the battery since it draws too many amps to use a cigarette lighter. The tire plug kits could be better but I have them.

Bummer! There is a bright side, Replacement or repair is never that simple, at least not for me. It is instead, an opportunity to upgrade.

I got a few tire inflators that take my power tool batteries (Makita &Milwaukee). I like the red one a little better.

On my Fusion its more a problem of the steel wheels cutting valve stems and snapping wheel studs.
