I have a hole in my muffler. The muffler has been replaced once before so its not the stock one but its an OEM type muffler. My question is should I replace with another stock muffler or go with a flowmaster 40 44. Whats the difference between the two? And I dont wanna have to run all new exhaust line just weld something in place of the muffler. I plan to weld it with .35 flux corded welding. I have not yet welding exhaust tube but It cant be any harder than welding 1/4" steel 7018 rod at a 90* vertical up weld. Just very different technique. :icon_welder:

Then I can finally have and excuse to get the Dont worry I welded it vinyl sticker from TRS

I'd say get the flow 40, the 44 is the "quieter" version with an extra baffle in it. and since you have a 4.0, it will sound deeper and more aggressive sounding. The stock and oem style mufflers arent known to last forever, since there cheaply made, none of my trucks have the original muffler. You should be able to just weld in the new flow 40 in place of the original, and just hook the piping back up, or have it dumped after the muffler. Your choice man have fun with it:icon_thumby:

Or...you can get a Thrush welded muffler from Summit, and save some bucks. It's the same as a 40, and there are also many other 'knock-offs' which are essentially the same thing as a 40. Just a chambered muffler.

I've seen that places like pep boys have flowmasters, thrush's an alot of other virtually the same mufflers

or a magnaflow... not much louder unless you really get into it

Why not just weld a piece of sheet metal over the hole and call it a day?

I think I may for now at least until I fix more important things like my a/c first as Arizona is hella hot, then get a turbo muffler. Also I dont want to sound like a ricer AKA "POS"

Is Turbo muffler the brand? type of muffler ?
