Holding RPM

Hey, I'm having a little problem. When I depress the clutch on my truck the engine will rev up to about 2600 RPM untill i come to a complete stop. When im still moving the RPM does not fluctuate at all, just goes straight to about 2600 and sticks there. Anyone have any ideas? It only does this every once in a while, and when it does I can usualy turn the truck off, start it again and it won't do it for another few miles. Let me know!

Right on, is there a good way to test one? Also if it was the IAC, why would it drop revs once the truck is stoped? It seems like if it were sticking open that the revs would stay high. Then again today on my way to work I did notice that after I stoped, it was holding like 1100 RPM. So, maybe you are on to something.

Pull the IAC an measure the resistance. I do not have the specs but a manual should have them for you.

it could be that your base idle is way off.. or you have a vacuum leak. it goes down when you come to a stop because the computer is programed to high idle until vehicle speed is 15mph or less and then it drops down to specified idle.

if your base idle is off it will not know what to do

Thanks guys, this weekend I cleaned the MAF, and i took off the IAC and sprayed some WD40 into it and let it sit over night. Then i put it back together and it has been "fixed" for the past 400 miles. So... we'll see what happens. Thanks for all the advice.
