What's the worst that could happen?

Don't know anything other than it's been in its current location for well over two years. Attempting to contact owner now. I think it's a circa 1990 GT.....last plated in '01. Crossing my fingers. What do you all think?

I'd wheel it.

Not my favorite design, but I wouldn’t be afraid to rock it

That could be fun...

I know I would approach it as it has been beat up everyday of it's life... and keep my expectation in perspective. It would also have to be really cheap.

If I actually aquired it... no way I would consider a restore. Gut it... cheap swap meet hot rod parts... then drive it like I stole it.

Zactly.
I would like it to be cheap. I'm talking serious cheap -- anything over $500 and I'm getting nervous. I think $800 would be max amount depending on history. next time I go by I'll see if I can grab the VIN. That will help make up my mind. Hard to get a look at the mileage.
I was able to get a look under the hood and everything seemed to be in order - kind of clean considering.
All of it is pie in the sky ATM though.
I'll keep ya'll posted.

Those cars are my childhood. Every kid in the neighborhood wanted a Mustang five point OH. Definitely the end of an era , after that they went to the SN95, which IIRC were designed with women buyers as their Target audience. First thing I would do is get it running, THEN swap it over to 5 lug, get some new seats because I know those are crunchy by now, and drive the wheels off of it.

I tend to not even consider things that have been parked in fields for years. Parked on a paved driveway? Fine. Field? No way.

Good luck!!! I just scored a "nother" project myself by having a friend leave a note on the windshield a state away and damn if they didn't call. He picked it up for me over the weekend. It is achievable!

Fox body mustangs are unibody. Very very common to rust out where the shock tower combines with the front frame section.
unibody rust is a giant pita.
Ahhh yes I remember reading your posts and following your string.
