Hit bump no fuel,no spark...not inertia switch.(Resolved)

Okay this truck is really pushing my limits..sticky 02 sensor, leaking shift rail plugs and now it leaves me stranded and this is all within 2 weeks.

I was leaving work for lunch and there is set of RR tracks that are pretty rough but if you go slow its really bad so you just to like 30 and you kinda float over them. Any ways there was a car slopwing down for them so I had no choice but to slow down and when I hit the tracks the engine just died. I tried to restart and it just cranls and cranks. I checked for spark there is nothing to the coil. also the fuel pump is not turning on when you turn the key on.

It must be electrical and I checked all the fuses and relays and they are all fine. I am going to try to pull codes and see if the ecu checks out okay. I think the battery might of bounced and shorted but I am not sure. Usually you will lose everything or at least some fuses from that. The very first thing I thought of was the inertia switch but it was fine so I actually popped it and reset it...please please please help. Im 2 seconds from just going v8.:icon_welder:

Okay I have a small update,
I cant pull codes because the ecu never sends them. When you turn the key nothing happens. But if you give power to the fuel relay the fuel pump turns right on and if you give power to the eeic relay you get a click? Is the ecu toast?

have you checked the ECU relay and diode?

Yeah I tested all the relays and replaced the ecu and fuel pump relay for good measure. I wasnt aware that the diode had anything to do with the ECU.....please explain?

in my 93 power distribution box there are two diodes one for the ecu and the other for the ABS, there are to keep the the computers safe from putting in the battery backwards. its a long shot it might have come lose or broke.
on mine thy look like fuses but are white and have diode symbols on them.
on a 93 there between the max fuses and the small fuses, loc 13 and 14

I do remember seeing just 1 diode not 2. Mine is a 94 but Im not sure I have abs. It is possible that the the battery shorted on the hood.

its a long shot but worth testing

Ron clock you ate the man!
THE DIODE WAS DIRTY. I cleaned it and added electrical grease and she fired right up.

Sweet, don't you just love easy fixes

Does a 1987 Ranger, with a 2.9 engine, have these components, also?

And if so, where are they located?

yes thy do, relays are on the passenger side fender wall, covered with a plastic cover.
The diode is on the wire harness on the passenger side it is a white rectangle thing sticking out. i can get some photos later if you need them.

That would be great to see some photos of what this diode, white rectangle thing sticking out, on the passenger side, looks like.

If this diode is bad, how do you tell and what problems will it cause?

Do automotive parts stores sell these diodes, if mine happens to be defective?
