not exactly the right section, but it will work... i recently came into a 48" high lift for the low price of $15... i need a way to mount it in my truck... what have you guys done? i'm thinking in the bed... probably under the bed rail over the wheel...

there are some nice kits you can get, but i'm curious as to what you guys have done... pics are a must!

I had a mount made for my front or rear 2 inch receiver hitch. There are a few post on the Hi-lift mounting area on this forum and in the fabrication section. You can check there. The bed at the front is a good place as the side of the bed as well. I carry so much off and on (mountain bikes) and the bed space is limited since I have the spare tire and my bed extender in the bed so I chose to ave a portable mount made like my portable winch mount I use either at the rear or the front. The jack mount has a drilled hole to put that nice heavy duty pad lock to prevent theft. Plus, it has a pinch bolt setup to keep the mount noise free with no vibration. I'll have to get a photo of it mounted on the Ranger when I get the time today or tomorrow for you. I only mount the jack when we are trail riding and it stays in the garage against the wall when not in use.

yeah, i've seen yours, i remember when you made it... i do like that... i'm wanting something semi perminent in my bed... probably on the passenger side of the box... i've got a CB antenna on the drivers that i don't want to interfere with... i am planning on eventually putting a ham on the passenger side, but we shall see

I welded two bolts to the inside and put it on with a couple wing nuts.

I just use the Hi-Lift tube mounts, the 2-3" ones. The 1-2" don't work on 2", lol.

cool! any of you guys use the locrak one made by hi-lift? i've been reading online that they seem not to stick out far enough to work... i want it to be lockable too...

how about shovels? what do you guys use for that? on my last truck i had broom mounts that worked quite well...

like these:

might do it again... shovels are cheap, not too worried about theft of them, though people will steal anything they can because they are jerks...

For a shovel I keep one of these behind the seat just in case. It is easy to pitch the regular shovel out of the back for room and forget about it.

I think it was about $35 at a army surplus store with the little rubber sheath.

It is one of those things like a fire extinguiser IMO that you can carry around for years and never need, but the second you forget it... :icon_surprised:

I use the high lift elsewhere to make it a PITA to have it tied into my truck, so if it is in there it is usually just sitting in there on the way to some busted piece of equipment.
