So as I get updates that the new F-150 I ordered is pushed out yet again I have leaned harder and harder the last month of not even taking it and keeping what I have. So in this I question who has higher mileage 2019+ Rangers, what mileage are you at and what have you seen thus far? I am creeping up on 55k and am still more than happy. Averaging 22.8 MPG I had been over 23 running premium but Biden's gas inflation over the last couple of months has made $1.00/gal extra unfeasible.... Maintained only premium since new till 50k miles but now have settled back with well level vs the top shelf :) So what are your thoughts, issues had, wear/tear etc. Thanks in advanced!

FYI if I keep the Ranger/S-Duty the Ranger will be due for tires by this winter and also be getting the tint darkened up a bit as it is a secondary violation in the Commonwealth now which means 5% everything. It has 15% over factory now and on front 2 windows. Tires looking to be factory size 265 Toyo AT-III's for replacement., also who has installed 265/70 in place of the 265/65's and what was your MPG loss.

I don't think I knew you had a new ranger 🤔 lol.

There's quite a few "high mile" 2.3 ecoboosts if you look around though. Skim through the forums of the other vehicles the motors in.

There's a couple 100k plus trucks on the 5g forum iirc, I forget how many high mileage mustangs there were when I looked.. anyways.. I wouldnt be scared to keep your truck at its current mileage.

I have no doubts about these trucks being able to make it to 200k with proper maintenance.. not the reccomended ford maintenance.. cut those figures in half for fluids at least... having a reasonable driver behind the wheel will help too lol.

I try to be as reasonable as possible. I definitely enjoyed the torque the first year or so then started trying to conserve as much fuel mileage as I could within the last 6 months and went from 20.2 to 22.8 so that made a lot of difference. All oil changes are Motorcraft 5k miles. If I keep it I will do all powertrain at next interval, trans, t-case, and axles. Yeah bought new in July of 2020 and love it just considering getting rid of 2 for one(2017 F250 6.2), thread here...https://www.therangerstation.com/forums/index.php?threads/new-truck-thoughts.197085/
But as of now the #'s are not right. Funny thing is the dealer I ordered through I wont see it until next week supposedly. Just got an email from another dealer in NOVA that I had priced from and apparently they had accidentally ordered the truck as well and it just showed up today :) So I have options for sure.

Man, with how the market and gas prices are I wouldn't be thinking about getting a bigger truck.

How much are they dinging you over msrp?

It is 58k window sticker price. Since I ordered it, none as far as what I can tell.

You'd have yourself a really nice dealer then.

"My" dealer I thought was pretty decent.. by only charging 5k over sticker on ordered Broncos lol.

4-5 mpg less than what you've been getting though, that's tough these days

Depending on what he is doing it probably won't change a whole lot. A Ranger is rated about the same.

20+ mpg on my '16 F-150 is pretty easy.

If I wanted to only get 18mpg I just run E85 (which I have been doing at $2.99/gal)

So dealer 1 has approved $0 out the door. Now to just make the decision.

I would have a hard time stomaching a 2 for deal, honestly.

Maybe I would trade the superduty for the 1/2 ton, but it's not that old. If it had a decent amount of miles on it I would be ok with an older 3/4 ton for a brand new 1/2ton.

I know values are insane right now which was the only reason I questioned it. I told him I would think on it over night. Thinking I am sticking with what I have..

I think my 2019 has around 40K on it right now.

Basically what we are seeing on these EcoBoost engines (of any size) is that with proper oil changes and correct oil, once you get past 150k there is risk of turbo failure. With not enough oil changes or not proper oil, that risk starts before you get to 100k. Generally, if you are paying attention you will see evidence of the turbo issue before it explodes - burning oil in certain situations (different depending on which seal is going bad) or occasionally oil and coolant mixing - so that you can catch it and replace/rebuild the turbos before you suck turbo bits into the engine. Once you get past the turbo replacement (assuming quality replacement turbos) you should be good to 300k+.

I'm just going to wait for the EV Ranger and hope its not a total POS.

Sounds like the easiest solution to this would to simply rebuild the turbo every 100,000.

Not the cheapest thing to do I'm sure, but ever 100K isn't bad. Plus it's cheaper then rebuilding the engine.

Assuming all important bits are fine, rebuilding a turbo is a relatively simple and a cheaper thing to have done, in the grand scheme of things.

I'd be more inclined to just buy a factory replacement though.

How much shaft play the turbo has and how wet the intake side is with oil are your big indicators how healthy the thing is. Inspection around 100k is a good idea
