So now that I got my engine issues sorted out on the Ranger I need to address the clutch. The current one is worn out. Even when my engine was running like crap I could break it loose with a hard pull. But that's not the problem.
The problem is there is some damage caused by my f-up with the timing belt, and the engine will need rebuilt, probably sooner rather than later (only cranks 90 PSI). I'm a glass half full person and like many of you have a hard time leaving things well enough alone, especially when I intend to keep it for a long time. I am strongly considering a mild turbo. And when I mean mild, as in marginally more than a 4.0L of the same vintage (160 hp / 220 lb-ft). I don't want to buy a OEM replacement clutch to have it be inadequate a year down the road.
But all the performance clutches seem to be grabby, advertising how hard they grip on acceleration. I don't want a grabby clutch, just something that will clamp down harder once released. I still use the truck for a lot of towing/hauling and don't want starting out to be a pain in the ass.
Does such a creature exist?
