High Winds

you know as far as that type of accident goes you could not have asked for a better one. no injuries, no other vehicles involved. no damage to anything, I did leak all my fuel out into the ditch so I had to have environmental clean up crew out there today. that was my favorite tractor though, 500 detroit and 13spd......... you could load up 48,000 pounds in the box and the tractor didn't know it was loaded.

In Pittsburgh a few years ago a truck jack-knifed when an asshole pull out in front of him. The trailer pinched the tank and popped it like a waterballoon and I watched a couple hundred gallons of yellow-blue fuel just burst onto the street and head right down the hill in a wave toward the river. They have to find a better way to store fuel than to hang it off the sides in weak aluminum tanks. My bus has the tank in a cage. It's certainly heavy enough to keep a car from popping it or to keep the bus's weight from collapsing it. It would be tought to keep a road tractor's tanks protected, but it could be done. Even though it's not easy to ignite I still would be scared sitting over 1,500# of spilled fuel. If it does go even the engine block melts.

I was thinking about that. there is enough room to mount the tanks inside the frame and route the exhaust on the outside of the frame.

Dang. you might as well throw the lotto ticket away, you just used up your luck for the week.

that happened not too far from where I live.

Glad you are OK

AJ

Wow, I was driving down the road just fine yesterday when I went past a clear patch with no trees and the wind almost blew me into the river... Scared me bad enough I held on to the wheel with both hands the rest of the way... Glad you're ok though...

Wow...now I know where the saying "Never fly faster than your Guardian Angel can drive"...

That would have left a brown streak on my seat...
