I'm rebuilding my 96 4.0 and was wondering if it was worth spending the extra cash for the high volume oil pump. If any has used them I would appreciate any feedback either way.

Hugh volume oil pumps are for drag engines that are loosely put together to gain that last few rpm's. If you are putting together a "normal" engine I see no reason to spend that little bit more horsepower it takes to operate a high volume pump.
The standard pump is oversized enough to handle any normal wear on our engines.

Stock pump should be fine for normal use. High volume pumps usually need a larger oil pan to accommodate at high rpm. Loose is not a factor as quoted above.

Good luck
