My 2004 Ranger XLT does not have a cargo light, and I'd like to change it out. Do all the factory wiring harnesses include a connection for the cargo lights, or would I need to wire the light from scratch when I replace the lens ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Not all have the wiring for cargo lights. My 2006 didn't have it. Most likely, if your truck didn't come with cargo lights, it won't have the wiring. The easiest way to check is to look at the wiring harness. If there are only 2 wires, there is no wire for cargo lights. If there are 3 wires, it is wired for cargo lights. One wire is for the brake light, one for cargo lights, and one ground. I ended up running a new wire up to the fuse box under the hood and mounted a toggle switch on the dash.

My 98 ranger xl had the wiring for the cargo lamp. All I had to do was plug in the 3rd lamp and it was good to go

My 99 came with everything! Yay! It even came coated in rust!
