Hiem joint or stock mount for my extended 79 arms?

Why?

For me it's the stock donut bushings since it sees the street quite a bit (often encountering wet conditions and occasionally mud).

Reasons are, bushings act as insulators. They don't transmit vibrations and other noise from the axle to the chassis like a heim can. They also don't have the super-close tolerances of heims, which means the tiniest little bit of wear isn't going to make them sloppy or noisy right away.

If it's a dedicated offroad play toy and you want to have that very last half inch of travel it might offer, then heims may be the way to go.

I would use the stock bushings or Johnny Joints... if you drive it on the street. Johnny joints have a bushing inside them and I have the Rough Country (cheaper versions) of them on my arms and love them. Does it help with flex for me? No.... I have other items that limit it before the stock bushings would. If Junkie can flex like he does on stock bushings, I wouldn't be scared to use them either.

heims are great if it's a trail rig only (still gonna make a rougher ride tho)

I used Trail Gears Creeper Joint (same concept as a Johnny Joint).
In a year, they are worn to the point that they are noisy, but not noticeably loose if you grab them. I haven't serviced them as much as I should have though...

If I had to do it again, I'd either do stock bushings, or the rod end style bushing which would go right in place of my current joints. Compared to Hiems, they're pretty much maintance free, less vibration/better ride, and cheaper.

Curries 1.25" Johnny Joints. Or Ballistic's equivalent.
