Hidden Kill Switch

Oh right that guy exists...

I've been fooling around with one of my spare keys.. My intention with the hidden kill switch was to e!intimate the ignition key. I have done this on my other truck, cut a key in half so it looks like there is no key in the ignition. Reasons being I misplace keys constantly, don't usually lock the doors and am not all that worried about decades old trucks getting stolen where I live, especially with the kill switch.

Anyway, I pulled the transceiver out of the key as shown by snoranger above. Was able to get the engine started by holding it against the column a few times but not reliably. Apparently the key acts as an antenna to get it close to the transponder inside the column. I cut all the plastic off leaving just enough to hold the transceiver but it's still visible in the switch.

Yes, I should be able to find better things to do lol.

Ditching PATS for a kill switch is like wiping before you poop. It just doesn't make sense!!

Yeah, if you need alarms, locks and keys in your life.

Here is my anti-theft setup.

Spare change in the center console?

I wouldn’t steal anything with that color interior.

maybe the fact that its a manual transmission. My 94 has the head of the ignition key cut off, just twist the switch and go. Not much to worry about with a 2wd regular cab longbed with a manual transmission.

Stick with skull on top.

I could live there. 2 thumbs up!

Yeah, but getting my t-case out of neutral is a real bastard.

Not that any of us do what the owner's manual says when we park our trucks (says park an auto 2wd in Park with the brake set, and I NEVER set the brake (that didn't work in the first place), says park a manual in (1st or reverse) gear with the brake set, my manual I never set the brake), but doesn't the manual say that parking with the t-case in neutral is a bad idea because the truck can roll away?

You ask that like you think I read the instructions.

I actually can't leave it in neutral at all right now because my parking brake needs adjusted and it doesn't hold at all off level.

Yeah! He can’t even read!
