HID Headlights??

You are putting others at risk with those darn things, and if I'm not mistaken, they are federally illegal in every state. If you vehicle didn't come with arcing lamps, it can't have them retrofitted legally because the DOT and NHTS is not and will likely never test them!

you do realize that "federally illegal" would make them illegal nationwide right, as in "federally"?

but yes, HIDs w/o proper housings are illegal in most states, not federally tho, because there are no federal traffic laws, every state is responsible for making and enforcing their own traffic laws

and yes there are vehicles that come with HIDs from the factory, installed in the proper fixtures so that they dont blind everyone else on the road

hate to be the one who's a jerk about these here, but I can't stand those PNP HID kits! If your lights are bright blue and the person passing is holding their brights on till you pass, you might have just passed me. Or if the guy behind you is dimming his lights for oncoming traffic and then turns the brights back on again, it might be me. If the guy ahead of you is going 20 miles under the speed limit, or throwing all kinds of shit from the side of the road up at you, you might be following me. Say a word to me about it or F with me on the road and see what you get then. You are endangering me and my family.

I'd have said the same thing but I'm sick of saying it. They don't listen anyway.

Which is why I'm considering the silverstars in my headlights instead of hids

Headlights are, primarily, for other drivers to see you, not for you to see. If it weren't for so many other people on the roads around here at night, I might not even use mine.

Even aiming them down doesn't do anything for hilly terrain, factory HID's still blind people. Don't do it, it makes your vehicle look like some kid messed with it when you install them anyways.

HIDs suck

This is incorrect, there are vehicles that came with factory HID's in reflector housings. Just so you know.

Early units, produced before projector housings were properly refined. This in no way abrogates the illegality of a retrofit.

My final thought on the matter:

HIDs suck.

No... the primary function of a head light is for you to see where your going when its pitch black out (Like in alaska where its dark about 80% of the year and without them you cannot see your hand infront of your face)

Side marker lights and taillamps are for other people so see you and how big you are and where your at.

HID just suck, so many people have them around here i want to run them off the road for blinding me from behind and incoming.

to many people add them to the wrong housings and use the super blue light....

WHY DO PEOPLE WANT THE BLUE BLUE LIGHTS?

I have not idea. i see a lot of Honda's and Toy's pickups with them.what i don't get why don't thy get pulled over and cited for being blue and purple. yea i have seen a few purple around here.
I was going to add blue leds to my dash, but then i got my radio and car charger with blue leds thy are really annoying to drive at night with i need to get tape to cover them up

Im not too sure if my plan is going to work, but I just ordered the Clear Composite Headlights for my 88 that LMC sells. But they dont list what the Bulb is......The Complany I have had the most luck with is RetroSolutions, They are priced very well (More then the E-bay rip offs However). I prefer 10k, Its Not Pure blue, But a very nice mix. I have yet to have anyone Hi-Beam me with them in my 05 2500 Duramax and it sits about most carsm, The beam spread dosent appear to be all that different from the factory.

Blue light is actually supposed to help with winter driving by causing more depth but it really doesn't work. If you do that you need yellow or amber coloring.

My headlights from LMC take a 9004 bulb
And 10k is blue... It's blue enough to be annoying to other drivers.

People don't flash people as much anymore. SOOOOO many people are buying them for every vehicle now it's just a losing fight. I've hit a few people with my hella's with HIDs in them. My hella's are 4500, which is WHITE, and bright as heck bc the hella's don't have anything covering the bulb.. I'll be hitting a few more with my hella's if need...

You know blue from aftermarket lights is illegal in most states, right?

Not sure where you are, just sayin'.

I am from Tennessee, not sounding smart or anything but i could careless about it being illegal. And besides were i am from is a small county and the county cops don't care and you might see a state trooper around about twice a month. Soo.

I have eBay 6k without digital ballasts which you can't find anymore and the crystal cut conversion housings. I don't get flashed to often and yeah the housings scatter the light pretty bad. You can get kits on eBay projector housings and HIDs for around $100 shipped. Wiring is very simple and mostly plug and play except the cheaper kits you have to insert the tabs into the plugs. I buy my HIDs from HIDExtra.com cuz I like their wiring more.

For those of you bitching about HIDs you obviously haven't driven a vehicle with them. Yeah they are annoying to look at oncoming but are unmatched to anything when driving with them. Recently we had very thick fog and I work swing shift so i get off at around midnight. HIDs put out light closer to sunlight and makes all the lines on the road and signs actually light up IMHO making it safer for me to drive. Don't knock it till you try it.

Look im not going to get into a huge toss over this, But 10K with Retro is not exctally blue, it has a shade of blue too it. The thing to keep in mind here is every company is different when it comes to this, 10k might be VERY BLUE in some companys depending on blub type, watts, the headlight you actually put it into and so on and so forth. EX in my 04 GMC Sierra D-max Headlight low Beam I have Retro Solutions 10k at 55w HID, The 55w as opposed to the 35w tends to wash some of the blue out of it. Also After i installed mine i used our headlight aiming machine at my work and adjusted the beam down a bit. I was prolly next to the only one with these things in Woodstock Virginia befor i left for Afghanistan, And as picky as Virginia State Police are i never had any problems from them or the Public, even no problem at Ft Bragg and everyone hates everyone else there LOL. Also The more blue the light gets the less brighter it gets! You cant just hate a head light beacuse its a little blue, If it is blinding you then by all means flick your high beam to let the other driver know there shit is jacked up, If you find that Blinding someone else with Hella's makes you feel better then by all means have at it, i hope your wearing a seat belt! You both are now blind driving towards each other :thefinger: Not trying to be a jerk here but the bottom line comes to this "Do your home work, Install them Right, Get them Adjusted By someone that knows what there doing"

PS Usually 50/1 HIDs in a normal light dont give to many problems, the worst style of light to blind other drivers is a "Angel Eye or Projector" style light. The Emit a very flat beam of light thats very odd. You could be in the process of being blinded and simply move up one inch and be all the way out of the lights beam. They are prety weird

Don't care what company you buy 10k hids from, they are blue. Not a tint of blue. They ARE blue.

How do you properly aim headlights that look like this?

4300k = white
6000k = white light, lenses look blue
8000k = blue light on ground
10000k = damn near purple.
